Somewhat relatedly to this sub-thread. Never saw Diz, but 1st real concert for me was Herbie Hancock in Omaha early 1975 (Thrust tour) when I was 14. Growing up there I also saw some jazz greats b/f I left for college incl. Chick Corea, Maynard Ferguson & Stan Kenton (just a few yrs b/f he passed).
