I hope this means we see more steaminput controllers

I *really* hope it means we get an official steam controller 2 eventually

I currently use a PS5 controller but any Bluetooth controller works with Joytokey or SteamInput. I used a Joycon for years

Some users mentioned that the adaptive triggers feature is used in Oblivion Remastered (DualSense controller). Is it part of the game<>SteamInput integration, or is it built into the game itself? In other words, will it work if the game is published to other stores?

Steaminput is robust and yet impossible to set up.

You'd think it'd just be like Emulation but no. They really expect me to remap controls being emulated as a PS2 controller for an offbrand N64 controller, via Menus, not Inputs.

Absolutely mind numbing that they didn't learn from emulators here.

No Portal 2 was just updated to support the DualShock 4 (intentionally) via SteamInput

Funny adding the EGS launcher as a non-Steam game so that the games I launch through there have SteamInput or w/e it uses to make a DS5 functional without extra software and all so I can possibly become a Thief 2014 defender? ugh.

sadly was the ps4 that shed them. honestly a bummer for me because with SteamInput theres alot of potential for having pressure sensitive mappings as part of multi-action buttons.

dualsense would be perfect for me with that

"Big tech is smearing my company."

My guy, Steam sells a handheld, wants that OS on any OTHER handheld or even other devices. They have so many QoL services built into Steam. I use SteamInput to tweak joysticks in games that don't allow it! Big Picture Mode!

I would say the only problem of the SteamDeck is not having kb/m, but even that is easily solved with a simple USB-C to USB-A hub, or just bluetooth.

And even without that, the virtual keyboard for typing, and SteamInput mappings for everything else can solve it all.

I was legitimately wondering if steaminput was somehow making my controller press the shift key or something lol

It doesn't have it officially but now that it's on steam it has SteamInput, I play it seamlessly on my steam deck off of a default community preset

My controller from Xbox design labs came which means I no longer have a sticky A button when I use an Xbox controller! Don't like how a lot of steam games need workarounds to use ps controllers like remapping steaminput to emulate kbm. Now PC gaming'll b ez :3

Accessoirement aussi, n'hésité pas a vérifier, toujours dans propriété du jeu, les option de controller pour enlever ou non le steamInput, sur certains de mes jeux, ce fut nécéssaire.
Voilà .w .

Anyone know why steaminput does this whenever I map the mouse to a d-pad? Unfixable?

So, SteamInput is pretty neat, on paper, but when developing in Unreal you're locked into having to run in StandAlone, locking off live debugging and adding a LOT of time to intermittent plays and issue tracking.
Which isn't...ideal. Or as my kid puts it: "I don't love it".

This video made by @flickstickvids.bsky.social is THE MOST ADVANCED YOU WILL SEE TODAY, regarding the configuration in #SteamInput for maximum FPS.

This video is on another level of madness that would, FOR SURE, make #SteveJobs (if he were alive) become a gamer

Definitely agree.

If on PC, SteamInput is very customizeable and has an option to invert analog axes. Some 3rd party gamepads can be remapped (saw a post about an 8bitdo Switch pro controller inverting Y input via software).

Still, better if devs just put it in the game to begin with 😮‍💨

A little bit on context on the reviews:

Unless specified, the games were tested on a SteamDeck. The others also worked on the deck (unless it was VR obviously), but I was too lazy to edit SteamInput every time.

So yeah. I'll yapp more about the Deck later. It's worth its own posts.

Now for demos:
