Still need upgrades for the big league roster at 2nd base & one of the outfield spots right now though.

"He won the trade deadline last year."
@JeremyAffeldt says Buster Posey the exec is similar to Buster Posey the player.

Giants fans know the team’s history of signing players from Latin America (not great), but significant progress has been made in recent years that make the future look promising—another big splash is coming Thursday, the international signing day:

A pillar, for sure. And yeah, an extension would be icing on the cake. But they seem so hesitant to spend, I'm not sure if that'd be in the cards. #SFGiants
No, you're not. You could argue Donovan could be a better fit simply because he can play outfield. But, I will say, just because Hoerner is better doesn't mean Donovan is bad by any means. Still an above-average regular who'd be able to shore up a position of need (2B or OF).
Get it done. And he's right that it'd be among MLB's best ... and I'd add Patrick Bailey if we're counting catchers. #SFGiants

Less than 50%? 25%? Really difficult to say. If we knew that Hoerner was getting traded, I'd say the odds that it's the #SFGiants are pretty high.
They certainly should be among the most motivated, and the Cubs probably have some motivation to make him happy by sending him home.
Greater than 50%.
Not totally sure & have been wondering the same thing. I think they'd be after the likes of Whisenhunt/Birdsong/Whitman/Kilen/Level/Bo Davidson. Maybe Schmitt/Fitzgerald.
Tough to say what they'd want & what it would take for a very good player on the last year of his contract.

Two words: Travis. Ishikawa.
But also: The rain game.
Oh! And Kenny Lofton's walk-off in 2002.
Three pennant winners, two ultimately resulting in World Series titles 🥲

Donovan feels more realistic given the Cardinals' sell-off. He'd also give the #SFGiants choices when it comes to where to play him (could play 2B or outfield).
Really good bat vs. RHP, passable vs. LHP. Both would really help, but Hoerner would given them great speed & defense.
