2 Giants on this list. To me spells out why they picked up Weimer and Dean. It’s get better defensively or your back up will start time for Lee and Ramos.

Brandon Aiyuk, according to multiple league sources, told NFLPA reps in a meeting that he did not want to fight the 49ers' voiding his 2026 guaranteed money via an official grievance. That would clear the way for his expected release at season’s end.

I think they are trying to solve outfield defense the way they tried to solve Short stop in 2024. Bring in lots of bodies hope one of them wins it and is above average. But they messed up not giving most of the ABs to Otto Lopez. Instead Ahmed won the job and was bad until getting DFA'd

The Trade for Weimer and the signing of Dean is showing me. They want, Speed, Defense, Pop. If there's a guy in the Minor League system that screams Speed Defense and pop he's coming up.

Wiemer is super interesting because his numbers against lefties are actually good, in a small sample size last year he was above average offensively against them and has been good for his career. Platoon Right fielder?

So the Giants willingness to take on short term bad money they could conceivably end up with DeGrom and Keller in their rotation without giving up a starter or anyone they had future plans for.
Mitch Keller also makes sense as a trade candidate because he's basically a 4-5 starter so he's depth and he's on a relatively cheap deal through 29 so he gives you more stability. And would cost not a ton, probably Matos and a minor leaguer (Furman?)

This is why I like Cease if I'm the Giants but they aren't going more than 3 year for someone his age.

This is why I like Cease if I'm the Giants but they aren't going more than 3 year for someone his age.
To go back to what @rog61.bsky.social and Crowley were talking about on the last KROG Degrom has a -13.5 value which would match about what the Giants would be willing to take on. I doubt the Giants would trade Tidwell, but I could see whitman and one of the San Jose 4 being part of a deal.

This is why I think if I'm the Niners I sign Austin Hays, the Wilmer Flores deal would probably fly something like 3 years 20. And he's an emergency outfielder who will DH against lefties. You platoon Fitz with Gilbert and Dean with Lee to start the year, if Fitz can't cut it you put Hays in the OF.
Literally if Drew Gilbert just hits his projections and plays over 100 games (normal for a platoon outfielder) and plays a good defensive right field he’s a 2 WAR player. Which is honestly fine.
