ロボティクスの進展により、自動化が進む産業分野で2023年には54万台以上の産業用ロボットが新たに導入され、世界の稼働ロボット数は400万台を超えた。だが、産業用ロボットは繰り返し作業に強い一方で、精密作業や繊細な対応、環境変化への柔軟な適応は苦手で、多くの作業は依然として手作業に頼っている。韓国のスタートアップRLWRLDは、従来のロボティクスソフトウェアと大規模言語モデルを融合した基盤型AIモデルを開発し、ロボットに迅速かつ柔軟な動きと論理的推論能力を持たせることで手作業の自動化を目指す。2024年設立の同社は、ベンチャーキャピタルや国内外の大手企業から計約1480万ドルのシード資金を調達し、戦略的パートナーとPoCやデータ収集、研究開発に注力。5本指の高度な動作の開発を進め、競合他社との差別化を図る。創業者の柳鎮熙氏は、韓国・日本の製造業の強みを活かし、ロボット基盤モデルを優先する戦略を採用。既に国内有力大学の教授陣を迎え、製造現場からのデータ収集も実現。今後は工場や物流、店舗のみならず家庭用ロボット展開も視野に入れつつ、まずは自動化需要が高い産業分野への展開を急ぐ方針。社員数は13名であり、今年中の収益化も目指す。
