I don't know about you, but I believe this country has turned a page and will never be the same again no matter who's in charge after the mid-terms (if we have them). Politics has become a form of entertainment where winners get the spoils, losers are SOL, and the media grovels to the winners.

Over the last 5 years I’ve experienced this first at the level of my family of origin and, later, as lay leader of our church. Not about politics, but about having eyes to see plain truth and the harm being done by their ignoring it. I tried so hard to explain, marshal the evidence… didn’t matter.

I think that survey is a mess. The actual question was, "Thinking about politics today, would you say that you have a lot of common interests and concerns with other people of your race, or would you say that your race doesn't matter much when it comes to politics?"

It’s not always wise to build a politics around reaction, but if you’re unsure on most any matter—borders, trans rights, etc—a useful heuristic is “what do the fascists want?”
