(JUBA) - Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel of Central Equatoria State has urged churches and local communities to work hand in hand with state authorities to promote peace, unity and security. The Governor delivered this message during his address to the Murle Congregation at Akatgol Presbyterian Church in Juba on Sunday, 7 September 2025. The Governor highlighted the urgent need to curb child abductions and cattle raiding, particularly at Mogiri Cattle Market, a frequent flashpoint for conflict between herders and traders from neighbouring Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

Greater Pibor is an area of Sudan with a vibrant culture, traditions and history, but is ridden with crime. Cattle raiding, sexual violence, and child abduction are now part of the culture and a source of conflict between communities.

(JEBEL BOMA, PIBOR AREA) – One herder has been killed and another wounded following an armed cattle raid near Jebel Boma town in South Sudan’s Greater Pibor Administrative Area, local authorities confirmed on Saturday. (BOR) – A total of 838 Indian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have been awarded UN medals for their contributions to peace and humanitarian support in the regions of Bor, Akobo and Pibor. The decorated personnel, including 12 women, were recognised for their efforts in protecting civilians, escorting humanitarian convoys and providing essential medical and veterinary services to communities across Jonglei State. The awards reflect the dedication and professionalism of Indian Blue Helmets working in some of the most challenging areas of South Sudan.
