I was leaning toward triboluminescence, but the last line for pectolite said it can flake, embed in skin, and be difficult to see in order to remove. So I went with the other one. I liked the deeper blue anyway.

Here are some #Pectolite samples that are trade named Larimar, which is a lovely light blue color.
Half of a formation that is semicirclular, with green and black surrounding the light blue oceanscape of larimar running in an arc across the center. Betroydal larimar in a slice of a sepcimin. Instead of the wavy patterns per normal this is presented as pillowy clouds of light blue in the center of the geode like formation. Mixed with an obvious copper secondary in green splotches, this split in half piece was originally cylindrical, and this shows its flat centers. The larimar itself is in the distinct clear blue water presentation that is very common. This is the deep blue of the carribean, caught forever in the stone. A round nodule of larimar split in half like a clamshell, with the beautiful oceanic larimar in the center, overlapping light blue clouds of the mineral gives rocky beach and light blue water.

Pectolite is a white to gray mineral, a sodium calcium hydroxide inosilicate. It crystallizes in the triclinic system typically occurring in radiated or fibrous crystalline masses. It has a Mohs hardness of 4.5 to 5.
A highly sought-after variety known as larimar, is a pale to sky blue.
This is a piece of blue pectolite. This would be commonly found in a store under the name larimar. This is roughly cube shaped This one is particularly striking in that it is sky blue with white borders Around What appears to be a pattern Of Crystal growth From the center point. It almost appears to be waves and they overlap with each other almost hitting some kind of invisible barrier underneath the "water" The Matrix rock that they are in is not particularly handsome but contains some greens and grays. This particular piece is stunning and would be AAA graded for jewelry This would be white pectolite, this oblong shape is dominated by betroydal growths in the center of what appears to be phrenite, but with color variations could be pectolite. The pectolite is actually in white radiating semicircles along the edges of the material almost fan like. This is green pectolite. The radiating spokes from a center point is what dominates this specimen. We will see several materials in this men cup that grow in a radiating wheel-like pattern and this is one of the most interesting I think. It shows up in a lot of cave formations and I have several specimens of this I believe. They are commonly labeled as the Matrix Rock they are found with so it is tough to determine if I actually have pectolite. Much like the second picture provided this is radial pectolite over a betroitol pecolite. This is a fabulous piece that they would trade as Alaskan Jade. It's a semi circle oblong piece dominated by radiating pieces or real-like structures over the grape bunch formations known as betryodal forms

Round 2 of #MinCup25 already! I'm sticking with #hauyne, because while #Pectolite seems awesome, I love the fact that most hauyne is found by amateur collectors instead of mined.

This round we have two pretty blue minerals which and be used as gems in pectolite and haüyne so they’re more or less tied for the art vote. I’m going to give haüyne the physics vote for fluorescence and volcanic origin.

I don't have strong feelings about either of these, but I voted for pectolite. Why? Because tectosilicates (like hauyne) are overrepresented in the rock world. I went with the inosilicate instead.
