#PageLoad
and for the rest of us? well, I'm not giving Substack my email, I will simply click through and view each @charity.wtf post when it crosses my feed here or on LinkedIn and cost Substack some CDN fees when they serve my pageload.

and she has RSS too, and will syndicate it back to WP in due time.

sorry, I meant I believe your anecdote about normie AI hate

re: the stats, they distinguish between AI mode and gemini app usage, but I don't know how easy it is to accidentally end up there and what counts as usage — e.g., pageload vs. sending a chat message

Jaspr + Riverpod = 💙

jaspr_riverpod is not updated to use Riverpod 3, giving you access to all the latest features.

Also, syncing providers is now even easier. Think "fullstack providers" that you compute on the server (e.g. load from db) and read on the client after pageload.

Ah nee, moment, jetzt wollte er bei einem Versuch auch nicht beim ersten Pageload den Play-Button laden. Eventuell einfach so lange Page Reload, bis sich was tut?

@JessTheUnstill It works even with cgi-bin. The problem is not process per connection but thousands of requests per pageload because of shit js frameworks that break your page up that way.

More tradeoffs today.
- Using localStorage instead the database - one less DB query
- Loading some data using a fetch request instead of including in the initial SSR pageload
- Doing more build-time processing instead of run-time loading

the most terrifying thing on skin deep was opening up the spreadsheet that was the single source of truth for all the game's strings, trying to ctrl+f for something, and accidentally overwriting a cell somewhere because it fucking snatched focus away from the search field mid-pageload

very useful coz sentry sdk may pick it up during building pageload and navigation transactions

Hope they add spans wrapping Nuxt lifecycle during initial client side render

thx❤️

I deleted FB from my phone (it took me a while to figure out) and my site pageload stats tanked, along with my ad revenue. I don't think this is a coincidence.

For one pageload bsky broke down amusingly

Fix #1. On GET, don't mutate the session. Then on pageload, js fetch to persist the new params.

a bunch of people will be writing their apps with python and the first pageload will be like 120mb and half the internet will say this is great because it is unlocking creativity and the other half will be talking about how slow that is on a 3g connection and cheap android phone

Founded today, 1994: Netscape. My first glimpse of the web in 1995.

I was fascinated by that animated N. It got to me the way work by Dali and Magritte did: eerie, haunting, with the glowing horizon and flying meteors during pageload.

Here's to yesterday's UI design and yesterday's web.

¡Hola! Todavía no encontré cómo leer a los que sigo en un solo pageload. Pero me alegra tanto encontrarte acá.

holy shit I could smell the pageload

small (but significant) improvement: faster image loading!

@awarm.space worked some magic with image performance (caching; optimizing sizes) so images now load faster on initial pageload—and much faster if already cached in your browser

give it a try with your moodboard / photo journal leaflets :)

I discovered why you can't use the keyboard on any pageload of bluesky, and it's because the HTML and CSS are a disastrous Blue-Brother's Car pileup of tags and overflow, flex and scroll bullshit, and it probably cannot be fixed without throwing it all out.

thinking about how my web browser now takes up 25x as much memory as the total size of my first hard disk and how this is largely because of the need to run ABP/noscript/ghostery to sandbox every single pageload lest I be inundated with ads that render the internet unusable

This is why small changes like extensions that make the Facebook website grayscale, or long pageload times, can disrupt a habit.

Or for that matter the slower fave/reply cycle of Mastodon

Took 2 days (Largely due to no linq/lambdas in fw2) but this code that made avg 247 sep db calls on pageload is now 1 cte-driven sproc + cs

interesting stuff! if i were building a less interactive site for which initial pageload perf was important, the approach from remix would warrant big consideration. https://x.com/remix_run/status/1483512990741659656

and preceding that there were a laptop-driven pageload of a document that leaked to a reporter... well, yeah, there's your smoking gun.

so, reporters, stop encouraging people to "signal a picture taken w/ your phone of documents" lmfao, it'll get your sources burnt to a crisp.

(ooc) there are 1.8k unpaginated comments loading on each pageload of the livestream, does this have something to do with the technical issues?

I'd like to post again about Gaza Funds gazafunds.com To help keep the needs of families in Gaza in the conversation. The way it's set up presents a different campaign on each pageload, so you can help funds that might otherwise not have that kind of visibility for you. Make a budget, its actionable
