💷 PFI = A profitable deal for business, a burden for the NHS

PFIs have proven lucrative, for hedge funds + insurance companies.

Our new blog breaks down why PFI was a disaster — and why new PPPs would repeat the same mistakes.

eh, nationalizations are relevant if we're talking about neoliberalism because privatization + stuff like PFIs were common in the more neoliberal era of politics, no?

👉 What are PFIs?
👉 Why did they fail the first time?
👉 And why are they quietly making a comeback?

This is essential reading for anyone who cares about the future of the NHS.

Scotland is still paying off PFIs, from the last Labour government.
October 15, 2025 at 2:15 PM
The message is simple:
❌ No more PFIs.
❌ No new PPPs.

With the Autumn Budget coming up, we need to show politicians the public won’t accept more privatisation.

Hi Chris, please do keep asking questions! Our research tends to be UK-wide, however, there weren't many PFIs to start with in Scotland! And Wales tended to favour MIM instead. Hence why our research has come out very England focussed!

🚨 BIG NEWS from EveryDoctor! 🚨

We’ve been digging into PFIs + what we found is shocking: 💷 69 NHS trusts are locked into paying £21.1bn to private companies over the next 20 years.

That’s money that should fund doctors, nurses + patient care, not profits.

It's past time you gave up on Labour.
Starmer won't protect British citizens from Israel.
He'll protect Jews but not Muslims.
He supports water companies, panders to power companies, reintroduced PFIs
etc etc etc.

We need better. We need corporations OUT of government.

PFI - you’ve probably heard the term, but what does it really mean for the NHS? 💷

We’ve broken down how PFI were sold as a clever way to fund hospitals… and why they ended up costing the public billions more than they should have.

Keep an eye out… our new research on PFIs is coming soon 👀

There are three right wing parties now fighting over corporate backing and happy to destroy our country in the process.

Appeasing water/Power companies as they raise prices all the time.
Forging ahead with SEZs & freeports.
Reintroducing PFIs
Failing to hold Sunak et al responsible for Covid crimes

Labour is promising to accerate NHS privatisation and even enter into disastrous Public Private Initiatives (PFIs), contrary to its manifesto.

Not only does evidence show that privatisation is 1) more expensive and 2) worse for patient, but voters have never given permission for NHS privatisation.
Some of us have to use private because even labour are fucking us. I'm probably going to have to emigrate and will have to get health insurance.

PFIs were pitched as “smart” funding. In reality:
✔️ Private consortia built hospitals
✔️ NHS trusts paid for 25–30 yrs
✔️ Investors got guaranteed profit
❌ NHS stuck with massive debt.

We can’t afford to repeat this mistake.

... lead to the privatising of the NHS.

I've explained what PFIs are, the fact Labour have implemented them under 2 previous govs, and the fact they don't work (and why) over on my bluesky account for anyone interested

💙 Huge thanks to everyone who backed our #ShowUsTheMoneyKeir campaign!

We asked how Labour’s 10-Year Health Plan would be funded. It’s still unclear — but PPPs (the new PFIs) look firmly on the table.

💬 Next step: we’re gearing up to hold politicians accountable on PPPs. Watch this space.

How very Tory/fascist of them.

Streeting has not changed Health policy from the Tories' regime.

Covid still ignored
No public information films
No change to privatisation agenda
Plan to use stupid Corrupt PFIs

The man is a joke - not a good one.

I don’t know a lot about finance, but I do know that PFI cost our hospital a huge amount and that e.g. to have a hook put into the wall cost £80.
Repaying PFIs were part of the reason the NHS has been so cash strapped.
November 24, 2024 at 10:44 PM
I don't recognise that.
12 months and only tinkering.
Barely any change on the issues below.
Worsening austerity, PFIs, SEZs, Still supporting Israel, appeasing Fascist USA, Craven refusal to face reality of Brexit, 20% subsidy for PLCs' power, refusal to take over water companies. Blue Labour FFS

So you're questioning why Corbyn stayed in Blair's government then, why he helped prop up a government invading Iraq and privatising the NHS with PFIs? Double standards?

Rayner was made to stand down for a tax diffle that should be prevented by HoC advisers.

Farage has likely done far worse and media is largely silent.

Mandelson had a dubious relationship with a sex criminal and takes money from Health PLCs to reintrofuce PFIs.
