...this idea I had of an oversoul of loneliness. A connectedness among the world's lonely that I could turn to when I was very low. There was a delicious romance in being utterly alone, & I told myself I was nobler for it, & that there was a purpose to my solitude, O there must be.

yeah it was a mix of that and the guard one for oversoul turns that saved me. plus i equipped the block gem on every which gave me more opportunities to live
depending on how the next world goes, i might spend some time dive kick grinding to at least buy some good gear lol

i, too, have read the orson scott card series “The Homecoming Saga” and wondered how i would be represented in the Oversoul
to put it another way: how many bits of stuff is unique to you and not easily inferred from being a human? like if you subtract "generic human" from "you" how large is that file

- She also fears the misuse of her power. She knows what she was born to do, what power she possess, and fears someday someone might get the upper hand to control her (this fear was only exacerbated with the Oversoul protocol). But she has to be reminded she's not a machine, and she can overcome it.

Lots of things violate Occam's razor, it's just a hypothesis generator. The bigger issue for me is that it isn't falsifiable. We can just eternally say "we haven't figured out how to receive the oversoul" and never make any progress.
