Most likely I have to pause in February or get only one or two books (probably starting on completing my own Nightrunners volumes, if only to finally return the borrowed ones after... idk how many years lol) bc there's a convention and we all know how that escalates quickly 😅

Played a bit of Nightrunners : Prologue and while it isn't really my thing the music and atmosphere is super good. I love how the music gets super clear and loud while you tear down the streets at WAY past legal speeds. It's really cool.

I know he has written more elegant stuff since, but jesus fucking christ THE NIGHTRUNNERS by @joerlansdale.bsky.social is a perfect horror novel. The sheer mean velocity of the whole thing is something incredible.

I had read of Joe in Fango when I was like, 12. I was on the lookout. First one I come across is the Bantam paperback of The Magic Wagon in a local drugstore, that was enough. To change things for me, I mean.
Not long after I found The Nightrunners. That made it forever.

Ask me for a list of authors to read if you want to write great horror and Joe Lansdale will be on that list. If you ask me for a crime list, Lansdale will be on the list. Great dialogue? Joe. Pacing? Lansdale. Wild shit that sounds like no one else? Joe Fucking Lansdale.
