Lilith Workstation, designed by Niklaus Wirth at ETH Zurich, ca. 1980, closely related to Wirth's Modula-2: www.modula2.org/modula2-hist...

Picture was taken at VCFe 22.0 in Munich. Consider visiting Hünfeld in August for more vintage computing: www.huenfeld.de/vcfe

And for our operating system I think we do for Modula-2 what apple did for C but since objects are stupid we can do aspect like aspect-oriented modula in Aspective-Modula2

fuckin finally omg thank you modula2 and gnu assembler you saved my life and user interface comes up again ilu ilu

ok so here is what I don't get bcuz and why computer science is stupid bcuz I couldn't pin point exactly where the issue was in how gcc was compiling modula but I know that the program shouldn't start from objective-c and re-organizing it so modula2 loads from asm would fix the issue and it did but

the COBOL code and rewriting that in Ada, Modula2, Oberon, C++, Rust or possibly Go - but I expect the DOGEans are not really able to develop programs.

Massive history of legacy programming languages and old systems: #Fortran, #Cobol, #Algol, #Pascal, #Modula2, #Ada (after Lovelace).... Many of these operated on small memory systems which required 'workarounds' in representing data etc. The problem for the #Musk kids: the devil is in the detail.

Not for a very long time. That had a very specific audience. Quite a bit of related code though like Modula2, Pascal, SPL (more like Algol though), etc etc

I did a little in Pascal and some Modula2. But my favorite OS/2 story: I was writing in Watcom C++ on Windows and was getting a GPF. After a day, I took it home, flipped a compile switch and had the answer in less than five minutes. NT wasn’t out yet.

(I did some of my early university programming coursework on a DOS Modula2 IDE running under emulation on an A3000)

What, you haven't heard of TopSpeed and their #compiler suite?

They were a group of #Borland employees who left in 1987, after Borland bought Wizard C (to roll it into Turbo C) and essentially canned their compiler project.

It's written in #Modula2, you know. Not a big leap from #Pascal.

Also I see Wirth also published a modula2 book
