similar a un metroidvania con una atmosfera espectacular con esos sprites tan bien hechos asi como buen diseño de sonido.

So I'm 2.5 hours into Blasphemous 1... This game is purely a Metroidvania right? Doesn't really feel like a Metroidvania-soulslike (like say Salt & Sanctuary was) since you don't loose you stuff on death.

The God of War Metroidvania is still neat but man it’s got some performance issues that shouldn’t be present in a 2D pixelated sidescroller. Game crashed on me and now I have to redo an entire boss

I wanted to bring all that up because I can see people thinking Nine Sols is a metroidvania when buying it then being disappointed when playing it simply because it's not what they expected, but make no mistake none of this has been a criticism.

Something I have to mention: Nine Sols is NOT a metroidvania. It has many elements of the genre in getting abilities to open new routes, a map that can be backtracked through, optional upgrades littered around, etc, but in practice it is not & does not try to be a metroidvania.

The extra modes are way more fun than the main game ngl xD
Maybe 7 sirens does vibe more with you, since that one leaned heavily into being a metroidvania.
Though I cannot vouch for how well they executed that game... something just felt off with it imo :x

i've owned this for awhile now but havent committed to a full playthru yet!! i really want to, its absolutely gorgeous and i thought its mechanics seemed pretty neat, but i need to be in the right mood to tackle a metroidvania, and also i sorta want to watch rolw and maybe should do that first

if you like symphony of the night, record of lodoss war, or even just the metroidvania genre, you MUST play deedlit in wonder labyrinth at your earliest convenience. it's so good. the art is sublime. the music is perfect. the story only hits if you like rolw already, but it's very good.

I think the problem is that 1/2 genie hero is not a metroidvania.
If you play any of the extra modes you'll notice that very quick, since most (if not all of them?) just have you play the whole game in one big gauntlet.
