A lot of his project as a historian and mapmaker lay in arguing for English rights to the whole island. The map is making claims to territory, and making them for a very specific audience in King Henry III and his family, none of whom cared much about Welsh or Scottish claims to independence.

Since Ireland did not seem to be clearly depicted, I guess this is not even the British Isles.
Names can be lacking, or deliberately confusing, and, since I haven't paid money for something to read the long posts, I don't even know why the mapmaker was named Paris, a dire strait away!
