Am Wochenende ging es hoch hinaus auf den Piz Languard (3262m, T3). An- und Abreise erfolgten natürlich mit der Rhätischen Bahn. 🏔️ 🚂
Ein Bahngleis schlängelt sich in einer Hügellandschaft. Das Gleis verläuft von links nach rechts im Bild und führt zu einem roten Zug, der aus dem Bild gerät. Beide Seiten des Gleises sind von grüner Wiese bedeckt. In der Ferne sind Berge und ein kleines Dorf zu sehen. Der Himmel ist blau und sonnig. Das Bild zeigt eine Berglandschaft. Im Vordergrund ist ein steiler, schneebedeckter Hügel zu sehen. Dahinter erstrecken sich weitere schneebedeckte Berge, die sich bis zum Horizont erheben. Der Himmel ist hellblau, und die Sonne scheint. Das Bild scheint von einer erhöhten Position aufgenommen worden zu sein, so dass man einen weiten Blick auf die umliegende Landschaft hat. Ein paar kleine Bäume und Büsche sind auf dem Hügel sichtbar. Eine kleine, grüne Wiese ist im Vordergrund zu sehen. Das Bild zeigt eine felsige Berglandschaft mit Schnee. Eine Person steht auf der linken Seite des Bildes und blickt in die Kamera. Die Person trägt eine dunkle Jacke,, eine Khaki-Hose und eine Mütze. Hinter der Person sitzen weitere Personen in verschiedenen Kleidungsstücken. Ein großes, rostiges Metallgerüst steht in der Mitte des Bildes. Darüber befindet sich ein Metallkonstrukt, das einem Pyramidenförmigen Obelisken ähnelt. Im Hintergrund ist eine Kette von schneebedeckten Bergen sichtbar. Der Himmel ist blau mit wenigen Wolken. Das Bild zeigt eine Bahnlinie, die sich durch eine kurvige Landschaft schlängelt. Die Schienen und Gleise führen in die Ferne. Auf der linken Seite sind Bäume zu sehen, die sich bis zur Bahnlinie erstrecken. Im Hintergrund ist eine bergige Landschaft mit schneebedeckten Gipfeln zu erkennen.

Good morning early birds! Leg and hip ache, so up eating a banana and swallowing ibuprofen. Perhaps I should have been more active yesterday, but I still hit my daily targets for the fit app.

I might walk to The Range today to get winter plants for the patio, but also tempted to visit Languard Fort

Cosy hut (2540 m a. s. l.) in the middle of the biggest ibex colonies of Switzerland with very tasty cakes. Beautiful view to Piz Palü and Piz Bernina.

Always a poignant date, reminding me of some great times climbing many of the 4,000m summits of the #Alps (and also failing on one or two)

This from my last big trip back in 2018, taken by my climbing partner, John (who's even older than I am!), plus a couple of bivvi pics.

The most breathtaking view of all was the "Berninagruppe" — tallest peaks of the eastern alps. Piz Bernina is just above 4,000m.

You may not realise that this view is dramatic, and not just gorgeous: Glacier retreat is immense, and there's very little snow this June...

So Languard Point is pretty special. And another #HeritageNature mash up. Bird observatory in a G1 Listed Fort. Sadly we couldn't find the turtle doves listed on the recently seen board but we did get a rainbow.

It'll be docked for a couple of days so there's still a chance I can go see it on Monday.

But I really wanted to be there when it came in past Felixstowe Languard Fort. I wanted to see it moving.
