In the darkness, without recognising the other vessel, E.43 rammed and sank E.36. She went back and searched but found no survivors or wreckage. That it was E.36 that had been sunk, with all 31 crew lost, was not realised until she failed to return to Harwich. [2/2] #RoyalNavy #WW1 #NavalHistory

Bizarrely, my worst experience was desperately texting an (English) shadow transport minister to tell him he was consistently pronouncing ‘Harwich’ wrong in a Commons debate. Weirdly hard to spell it out phonetically.

Ha! My thoughts exactly. As an Englishman it's always a treat to see a Rover SD1 or similar with Dutch plates🇳🇱

Dutchies are often good at fixing, which you need if you buy an old Rover🇬🇧

Also the Dutch tendency for frugality & practicality leads to a healthy population of old-school Volvo estates🇸🇪
