Apparently their species of jumping spider is generally solitary and voraciously hungry so girlspiders (who expect the boyspiders to do the courting) will sometimes go "nevermind about netflix and chill, I'm going for doordash instead".

A researcher from a university in Florida tested what the stripy eye makeup on these guys did by painting over it with spider-safe eyeliner. It's to keep girlspiders distracted enough to watch the boyspider's mating dance.

(if she's insufficiently distracted she eats him.)
