She is bringing up her fist and declaring “NEVER AGAIN.” This is in reference to PTSD she has from being experimented as a child, which shortened her lifespan greatly. PTSD refers to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which occurs after experiencing a traumatic event. PTSD can include intrusive memories of the event, mood changes, upsetting dreams, and avoidance.

Many people headcanon Ilyana to be diabetic as she always seems to be hungry, and needs to eat a lot of food to help her from becoming dizzy or falling unconscious, which is associated with hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar in a diabetic individual.

A single ribbon of sunlight lies between them, twining over the rumpled blankets in the same liquid way as fine silk seems to flow. The small shadows it leaves under the curls of the sheepskin reminds Velouria of fish scales. She imagines a sunfish darting through a mountain stream, navigating the rocks and reeds and leaf litter, its soft white underbelly aglow. Her hand swims across the blanket, following the silk stream sun to the matching hand of her lover. “Selkie, dear,” Velouria whispers. Two of her fingers pet her skin, then squeeze, tying them together by their hands. “Are you awake?” Selkie inhales, back arching as she stretches, her neck baring itself to the room as her head shifts on the pillow. Her eyes are still shut, but her lips part in a lazy smile. “Only because it’s you asking,” she mumbles, her voice clogged with sleep. Velouria’s nose crinkles. “It’s too early in the morning for you to try to charm me.” With a hum, Selkie leans toward Velouria, perhaps instinctively. “Time…” She pauses to yawn. “Isn’t real.”
