Much as I enjoyed #Deathbylightning, I found it aggravating that the writers had characters swearing the way we do now, with lots of F-bombs, which is not how even foul-mouthed politicians spoke in that era. Ruined the effect of otherwise good writing and great acting. @mike-makowsky.bluesky.social

#DeathbyLightning is one of the best shows that 2025 produced! A gripping and tragic account of the death of James Garfield- a leader taken far too soon, and how a desperate and twisted mind like Charles Guiteau took away what could've been a great president! Shannon and MacFadyen both excellent!

Rewatched #DeathByLightning last night. Watching Guiteau mount the gallows, I felt bad for him. He’s delusional! He genuinely doesn’t understand HOW horrific his actions are! But also… he’s going to continue harming everyone around him and the only way to make him stop is to kill him.

A few days ago I couldn’t have imagined being interested in a miniseries about US President Garfield. Then I watched #DeathbyLightning. Great script, great cast, great acting, and a surprisingly compelling story. I was very pleasantly surprised.
