💭 Personal thoughts

Studies like this are important as they reinforce the fact that psychiatric disorders do not occur in isolation. Rather, they are consequences of systemic dysfunctions. That is why they frequently present with comorbidities, and other disorders increase their risks.

🔎 Background and focus

- Psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and depression are among the comorbidities of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

- Having IBD increases the risk of developing psychopathology

- This relationship may be mediated by molecular alterations in hippocampus

Books about adult ADHD

There are more of those out there in recent years and it's overwhelming to pick one out. What do you recommend? Bonus points if it explores comorbidities like addiction, substance use, and mental health diagnoses. by slightlylions1425

Taking the opportunity to trim nails in anaesthetised dogs & cats saves them the trauma. I've had patients where GA risk is high, but a nail clip needed (e.g. elderly cats w comorbidities, ingrown nails) & in those cases sedation or going really slow with gentle handling & analgesia may be best.

A study of 14,000+ patients shows women with ascending aortic dilation face higher mortality & aortic events, even at smaller diameters.

Indexing to body size & sex-specific thresholds could better reflect risk and guide care.

Sex-specific care matters.

It's not just free for teachers. It's also free for the elderly, children, and people with comorbidities. And if there's any left over, anyone who wants it can have it.

Severe #MECFS can often feel like your body is a war zone. I can’t imagine living with it and being in a war zone aswell - with bombs falling outside your home. I’ve just donated to help Daryna escape from Ukraine to Germany.

-APOE4 homozygous individuals are at increased risk for COVID positivity & lethality. Specifically, APOE4 homozygotes are 2.2 times more likely to test positive for COVID and 4.3 times more likely to die from COVID vs to APOE3 homozygotes, independent of preexisting comorbidities

Mom & Max Cat on the left, Sam Cat on the right. Mom RIP 2/24. Max & Sam were littermates of hers. Adopted the whole family from a Siamese rescue.

I'm recovering from the comorbidities of Long Covid. Max & Sam are both 16 & live with me in assisted living.

And the comorbidities require at least 5-dimensional math to explain 😅

Kind of? Truthfully any shrinkage caused tends to be temporary, the biggest culprits are usually just aging, ED, HRT, or other such "comorbidities" rather than just cage wearing in & of itself

Otherwise, when healthy, it will always recover to full previous size & ability a while after removal

I explained Ehlers Danlos syndrome and comorbidities. I explain gender incongruence was part of it and that trans and NB are genetically made. They've no option... We have to explain and say we exist the same as everyone else. X

Hey guys!!

Lately, I've been having financial problems and, in a few days, I'll need to see a neurologist so I can improve my quality of life with my comorbidities.

I created a goal in case you want to help me. 😓

I explain my multiple comorbidities like this:
"I don't have medical issues, I have Volumes."
January 24, 2026 at 6:26 AM
Everything I'm experiencing is COVID related unfortunately.
My lifestyle has always been heart healthy (no other comorbidities other than Long COVID).
My GP has no clue about healthy/safe exercise, so I monitor it myself due to PEM. I am VERY careful not to push too hard, and to always rest harder

Patients weren't divided into OSA vs. central SA due to coding (but a previous population-based study by the authors found that >99% of SA patients had OSA). SA was associated w/ 🔼 panic disorder (PD) independent of comorbidities, & it was noted the actual prevalence of PD in SA pts may higher. 62/n

You'll also never know if someone else should have been vaccinated, but couldn't for whatever reason. Or if they're at risk for any other reason.

Folk don't carry their comorbidities on display.

Write to them like I have.

I have explained to them that comorbidities associated with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is Gender Incongruence. It's a genetic mess that passes through family to family. I didn't ask for it, but I've got it.

one of the really fascinating things about depressive spirals is you can monitor all the signs, know why it’s happening, how it links to & is intensified by various neurodiverse comorbidities etc & still be absolutely, utterly helpless to do a goddamn thing about it
January 23, 2026 at 5:10 PM
i've heard that many comorbidities like adhd can be sort of hidden by depression when it's untreated
