Paul McCartney has dedicated #StGeorgesDay to Georges everywhere, loved & lost. Here’s mine: J George Stant, the suave Grandpa I never met. Served in the Great War & killed in his shipyard during the #ClydebankBlitz. My Mum adored him and, I know, thought of him every day.

This gravestone in Eastwood New Cemetery is a reminder that to this day, not all the bodies of those killed were ever identified. It's one of half a dozen similar stones in a row tucked away at the back of the graveyard.

84 years ago tonight Luftwaffe bombers struck #Clydebank for the 1st time, with the greatest loss of civilian life in Scotlands history .
