Not really a new model when that was generations of industry (eg my patch of Clydebank and shipbuilding). They also want to go to back to that era for no health and safety or rights for workers, but that's a minor quibble. . .

That young man was Fulton Mackay.

William Fulton Beith Mackay was born in Paisley in 1922 but grew up among the shipyards of Clydebank, raised by his aunt after his mother died. He trained as a Quantity Surveyor before later being refused entry to the RAF on medical grounds, ultimately joining the Black Watch.

A trip earlier to see the #Springsteen biopic #DeliverMeFromNowhere
Much darker than expected, but well worth seeing.
Particularly fine performances from #JeremyStrong as The Boss’s manager, and #StephenGraham ‘s cameo as his father.
Looks as if renovations at Clydebank Omniplex are completed.

On this date in 1938, the RMS Queen Elizabeth was launched at the John Brown and Company Shipyard at Clydebank, Scotland. Bigger than the Queen Mary, she served as a troopship before entering passenger service in 1946.
