Took time out yesterday for a seven mile walk and a visit to @nationaltrust.org.uk Castle Drogo. What a fantastic building! Beautiful interior. And a link with Wadhurst, where Jim went to school! Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in early 1900s.

We are high up and can see so far! It makes huge trees look as tiny as me!
I think of all the shiny and nice things waiting to be found

Julius Drewe should have inherited an ancestral home from the Norman Baron Drogo de Teign - so he built himself his own castle (started 1911, completed 1931) which was the last castle to have been built in England. Perfect fortification come the Zombie Apocalypse 🤣 #castledrogo
