Surely this data shows that to get a majority, the SNP should be going all out trying to win the 2x marginal Tory seats in the South, a couple of winables in Lothian, Caithness Sutherland & Ross, & Jackie Baillie's seat, rather than flog a dead horse in trying to get list seats?

I am pleased that the Minister has agreed to look seriously at my request for the Government to convene a COBRA meeting.

It is appalling and dangerous that my constituents in Caithness have been subjected to this level of risk.

Chief Inspector Donald Swanson was just mentioned on Lucy Worsely’s latest documentary. Apparently he’s an ancestor of mine. No idea if this is true but he was from Caithness like my grandparents were. I need to become a minor national treasure so I can get on Who Do You Think You Are?

During the recent storm, Caithness was completely cut off - with no road or rail access to Raigmore in Inverness, despite local efforts.

I've asked the UK Government to convene a COBRA meeting to discuss why the Scottish Government were so ill-prepared for a situation like this.

The SNP have a tired, toxic and, ultimately, broken relationship with the north of Scotland.

We are on the cusp of changing that: everyone in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross can vote for a strong local champion next May by backing David Green and the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

up to a point fully agree but there is a large but. For the Highlands, at a guess the Liberals will win Orkney (of course), Shetland and Caithness, Labour Na h-Eileanan an Iar, god knows for Moray and Inverness. So here list votes for the SNP could very well generate regional seats

Looking back on 2025 & recalling some of the best moments. The trip to Caithness & the John o’ Groats book festival was memorable. I’m also a big fan of Neil Gunn & worked as a tour guide in the 1970s so it was a treat to see that magical seascape again and show it to @joaokay.bsky.social

From the bonny bells of heather
They brewed a drink long-syne,
Was sweeter far than honey,
Was stronger far than wine…

The old legend of heather ale – brewed from a secret recipe of flowers & “a kind of fog” – inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem “Heather Ale”

Lib Dems will easily hold Orkney, Shetland, Edinburgh North West and Fife North East, and easily gain Caithness, Sutherland and Ross
Labour will hold Edinburgh Southern and Dumbarton
Conservatives will hold, or at least SNP won't win, Ettrick Roxburgh and Berwickshire

Any 1 seat beyond that, no maj

Day 19 of the Coastal Lexicon Advent Calendar and today’s word is:

🌊 geo — a rocky gully on the coast in Caithness, Orkney and Shetland

A Norse borrowing < gjá 'rift, cleft, chasm', as in the Faroese village Gjógv

Formed by high-energy wave erosion along a line of structural weakness in the rock
