After everything we've been through Scotland needs new hope not old divisions.

At the next election, there is everything to play for in Edinburgh.

Council by-elections show that support for Labour, the SNP and the Conservatives is collapsing because they have all let you down.

Scotland deserves better - and with the Liberal Democrats, you can vote for it.

Reform haven’t put forward a single sensible idea for how to fix things. It’s all flannel and froth.

Only the Scottish Liberal Democrats have a realistic plan to get our country moving again, without the bitterness and division Offord's Reform will spout in the coming months.
January 16, 2026 at 12:37 PM
Just hours into Offord getting announced as Reform’s Scottish leader and the party are already emulating their American idols.

Manhandling journalists, limiting scrutiny and barely giving a single direct answer to any questions- it’s all classic, Trumpian behaviour.

The hundreds of millions of pounds backing Scottish Liberal Democrat priorities in this budget show just how serious we are about getting stuff done.

In the coming weeks, we will use our leverage as an opposition party to get the Scottish Government to go further.

Reform has simply turned into a Tory party rebrand.

They ought to suffer the same fate as the Tories in May's election.

Only the Scottish Liberal Democrats have a realistic plan to get our country moving again, without the bitterness and division Reform will spout in the coming months.

The budget contains hundreds of millions of pounds for Liberal Democrat priorities.

That's what you get with the Liberal Democrats: grown-up sensible politics that gets stuff done.

You can get more of that by backing us in May on your second, peach-coloured ballot paper.

Scottish Liberal Democrats are in the business of getting stuff done.

That is what the public deserve from politics.

All of these steps forward are in the budget because we put pressure on the Scottish Government to include them.

The question here isn’t about how the budget passes; it’s about what you get out of it, if it does.

It is welcome to see many Liberal Democrat asks featured in today’s budget.

Fixing social care, funding our colleges, flexible childcare, support for small businesses and more.

Every single week far too many people are left stuck waiting in A&E for hours on end.

The Scottish Government needs to start taking serious action to reduce pressures and that should start with addressing the crisis in social care.

It was great to have the opportunity to visit the Stafford Centre today, which is a community based mental health hub.

These services are absolutely vital for many people across our city, and they have my full support.

The Scottish Liberal Democrats get stuff done, so we will always be the grown ups in the room and act responsibly and pragmatically.

In our discussions with ministers we've highlighted colleges, mental health, childcare, business rates, a fair deal for islanders and social care.

Many businesses are being faced with the prospect of massive hikes to their non-domestic rates.

Some are facing increases of over 550%.

We now need to see an immediate pause to the business rates revaluation, to ensure businesses are not hit with these eye-watering increases.

Margaret should have been home within 14 weeks, but she’s been in hospital for 14 months.

Every night in Scotland there are 2,000 people stuck in hospital because care packages are not available.

You cannot fix the crisis in our NHS until you fix the crisis in care.

Scottish Liberal Democrats are winning the fight against the SNP in the Highlands.

The SNP's relationship with rural Scotland is broken.

The Highlands deserve better.

By backing the Scottish Liberal Democrats, you can get change with fairness at its heart.

It is utterly astonishing that our NHS is losing £1.2m a day to delayed discharge under the SNP.

2,000 patients are stuck in hospitals in Scotland on a typical night.

These are people who should be cared for in the community at a quarter of the cost.

Margaret was rushed to hospital as she’d become paralysed from the waist down.

She should have been home within 14 weeks, but she’s been in hospital for 14 months, because the care support she needs is unavailable.

It’s happening the length and breadth of the country.

Trump’s interventions in Venezuela are surely in violation of international law – yet Keir Starmer is refusing to call that out.

Standing up for international law means condemning leaders when they break it, whether that’s Vladimir Putin or Donald Trump.

Trump's actions in Venezuela were a clear breach of international law, yet Keir Starmer refuses to call it out.

The Liberal Democrats will not look the other way.

Just as Charles Kennedy stood against the Iraq War, we will stand against Trump's law breaking in Venezuela.

The SNP have a tired, toxic and, ultimately, broken relationship with the north of Scotland.

We are on the cusp of changing that: everyone in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross can vote for a strong local champion next May by backing David Green and the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

For years the SNP and Greens planned to circumvent the landfill ban by sending 100 lorryloads of rubbish a day to England.

Now ministers have come up with a system of red tape to dodge their own ban, where waste still goes to landfill in Scotland after a rubberstamping exercise.
