CHLaS Chapter 9 - fully outlined, a few hundred words written. On hold atm.

SoRiku merman AU - I've decided to commit to getting this one done. Need to finish the detailed outlining but the bones are in place. 1.4k words so far. Rated M or E, 5 chapters total. 30k words. Title TBD.

In no time at all they reach the edge of town, the dirt under the wheels transforming into a cobblestone road that, while not precisely pleasant, at least smooths out the ride into something less teeth rattling. The streets continue to narrow as they drive closer to the center of the village, the carriage losing speed until they’re traveling so slowly that Sora flips back the curtain to see what’s causing the delay. His vision is greeted once more by the charming view of stone-clad two- and three-story buildings capped by thatch and colorfully tiled roofs, their painted shutters propped open to allow in the morning air. Lines strung between the buildings, sometimes clear across the road, bow under the weight of clothes drying in the sun as they flutter gently in the breeze. But the vicinity around them is far less tranquil and orderly — a steady stream of pedestrians fight to move past their carriage and other obstacles dotting the road: a herd of goats, an abandoned handcart, a man standing on a crate proselytizing to the indifferent crowd. Hats, bonnets, and uncapped hair of every shade from blonde to black meander in and out of view as Sora stares out the window. The persistent drone outside of their enclosure comes through as a rolling wave of words too muffled to understand, the crests sometimes broken by a burst of laughter or a shouted greeting in the melodic native language used by these people. Sora had almost forgotten how crowded the market streets were on their first day, and now he wonders how he could have ever failed to recall this impressive sight of so many people going about their errands. “Ah yes, it can be quite busy in town this time of day,” Maurice says apologetically, leaning forward to take in the view past the curtain Sora has pulled aside. “But it should only be a few more minutes until we reach Cyril’s.” Not long after, the carriage comes to a leisurely, rolling stop at the intersection of two lanes, all of the tasseled curtains shaking …

I won't admit to how many times I have reworked the beginning of chapter 8... but, I've got 8.4k words done! Whole thing is outlined, 75% of the major scenes are first drafted. Now it's time to 2nd draft and clean up.

Two more (short) days of work then summer vacation! 😎

Spring Break achievements unlocked so far:
- Build a trampoline
- Clean out weeds from raised beds
- Install two new raised beds
- Plant squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, napa cabbage, poblano, anaheim peppers, garlic chives, and eggplant
- Fix up ch 1 of CHLaS and write 3k new words for ch 8!!
Two raised garden beds in my backyard. The one on the left contains roma, cherry, and yellow tomatoes and garlic chives. The one on the right contains three types of squash, eggplant, and two kinds of bell pepper.

1 day left till Spring Break! I've already begun the rereading of CHLaS to mentally prepare for chapter 8. So excited to continue the story!! (I'm also trying so hard not to edit too much, and only partially succeeding. If it gets too bad I may just log out of AO3 and read like a normal person 🙃)
