Because AI is using more power than power companies can create, utilities want to increase the price for electricity.

So we'll get to pay more for stuff to use a tool that does a mediocre job. Cool cool cool.

Spoken with an edu textbook publisher about her co's push to use more AI. She works w/ sci and math, and pointed out that Gen AI is good at generating, but not good at specifically creating similar-but-different examples, nor at consistently following specific steps for solving equations.

#Teachers, #SchoolLibrarians, #EdTech folks... Please don't allow / encourage students to ask AI to answer factual questions. It's not a replacement for curated, vetted library resources.
@astrokatie.com provides this great, simple explanation you can share
#MediaLiteracy #InformationLiteracy 🍎📚
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

OK, so you're admitting that drawing requires skill and some expertise.

Would you like it if someone decided that, rather than pay you for your expertise, they consulted a robot that did your job poorly?
