This is a second #MathArtMarch #MathArtChallenge using the data structure I used on the Seymour Second Neighborhood Conjecture. It looks at the #HarryPotter Houses (really a person) and missions completed and compares them across a graph.

#MathArtMarch Day 16: Connected
Borromean rings in #LEGO. Borromean rings have the Brunnian property where removing one ring causes the entire structure to become disconnected.

#MathArtMarch for 3/4/25 (nice numbers btw!)

"swirly" ... that made me think of my rotini earrings. (pasta ftw!)
Each model swirls to replicate a different mathematical function. From left to right: |x| (x+sin(x)) sawtooth, x^2, x^3, e^x

They're so fun!

#MathArtMarch Day 20 Repetition

I had over four dozen left over 12-inch circles I've been thinking about how to use, so I tested a pinwheel on the floor of my storage room. After I took the picture, I decided to see if AI could remove the dirty carpet. I was not expecting this.

The Knitting Wheel of Fortune - my #mathartmarch offering for "chance".

Conceived as a visualization of randomness with input from visitors who used dice and a wheel to control my knitting in 30 row chunks. I made the pieces live during the event.

#MathArtMarch day 19, “42” (second submission because I just had to). 42 representations of the number 42 made by a bunch of different people in Tile Farm Studio.

I've been trying to come up with something for #mathartmarch 42, but John Baez already has the gorgeous stuff. math.ucr.edu/home/baez/42...

Sorry (not sorry) for all the art posting, but when I saw the #MathArtMarch prompt was symmetry, I couldn't resist since I got a million symmetrical drawings. Here's a favorite. #SciArt

Hexagone
Il existe 980 façons de paver un hexagone de taille 3 avec des calissons. Je crois qu'elles sont toutes là, à une rotation ou symétrie près.

For #MathArtMarch prompt symmetry, I must share the incomparable Emmy Noether!

#histsci 👩🏼‍🔬🐡🧪🧮🎢
Happy birthday to one of greatest mathematicians of all time Emmy Noether (1882-1935), here with her eponymous theorem, the backbone of modern physics. 🧪🐡👩‍🔬🧮 #histsci Noether's theorem links any symmetry of a system with a conservation law. In my portrait, I chose to depict a young Emmy in front 🧵1/n

For Day 7 #MathArtMarch I drew parabolic curves to create this flower. #HowMany straight lines did I draw? If you look carefully, you can see the graphite pencil lines beneath the colour. #drawing #art #ArtYear #SciArt

Some more from my photo gallery on the theme of “growth” for day 9 of #MathArtMarch. These were inspired by a #beingmathematical task from @atmmathematics.bsky.social .
exploring “growing”sums of cubes and squares. Appropriate for 2025.

Day 12: The #MathArtMarch prompt is "on an iso grid". Here is the Mona Lisa on 3 isometric grids of varied refinement. Each triangle has the average color of the underlying image over that triangle.

For #MathArtMarch prompt proof: my portrait of Sofia Kovalevski 🐡🧪👩🏼‍🔬🧮 #histsci
Happy birthday to Russian #mathematician & writer Sofia Vasilyevna Kovalevski (1850-1891). 🐡🧪👩‍🔬🧮 #histsci Her contributions to analysis, differential equations & mechanics include Cauchy-Kovalevski theorem & the famed Kovalevski top. She was 1st woman appointed to full prof in N Europe or to serve 🧵

Ayliean MacDonald's #MathArtMarch Day 31: Change

I had some change in the form of pennies from Barbados, so I arranged them into what I think is the smallest 3-regular penny graph.

Each penny touches exactly three others.

Day 23: The #MathArtMarch prompt is "together". A great joy of my life is performing Mime-matics, a mime show that introduces mathematical ideas, together with my wife Tanya. Here is a sketch we tie to topology. There is also geometric thinking on "Where is Tim?" youtu.be/Phb8wciVBdU?...

#MathArtMarch Day 30: Game
Take a number n, square the digits, add to get a new number, repeat. If the sequence ever reaches 1, the n is a happy number (green); otherwise (blue) it ends up in the 4, 16, 37, 58, 89, 145, 42, 20 cycle (red). It's a fun little arithmetic game to play.
