Only 47.4% of young people with disabilities are employed - a 20-point gap compared with their peers. Employment means dignity, autonomy, and inclusion. This gap must be closed.

Carney did what most leaders won’t: acknowledge disabled Canadians. But praise isn’t policy. Provinces keep dropping the ball, and Ottawa needs a national standard so people who can’t work aren’t left to die. Dignity shouldn’t be a postcode perk. I’m looking at you, Doug. #IDPD

International Day of People with Disabilities. Swipe to see how we’re securing wins for disability rights in Central Asia In a milestone achievement for inclusive labor policy, the Solidarity Center’s advocacy efforts contributed to the adoption of a standardized employment contract template for workers with disabilities by the government of Kyrgyzstan last year. Digital Inclusion: Job-Matching App. Harnessing technology to address employment barriers, the Solidarity Center supported the launch of the unique “TenIshte” mobile application, a tool designed to connect job-seeking PWDs with inclusive employers in Kyrgyzstan. Two Solidarity Center partners, Equal Opportunities and ITeachMe, led trainings for youth with disabilities. Over 300 young PWDs in Kyrgyzstan have now been trained on their rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), including labor rights and defending them.
