The framing used here by the FT and other international media is highly problematic. Yes, the French President and German Chancellor have a strong role to play in electing the next ECB President.
But portraying as if it was only for Merz and Macron to choose is simply wrong.

The framing used here by the FT and other international media is highly problematic. Yes, the French President and German Chancellor have a strong role to play in electing the next ECB President.
But portraying as if it was only for Merz and Macron to choose is simply wrong.
