Destructive winds and rainfall hit the archipelago, while a cold spell in Florida prompts fears of falling iguanas. Typhoon Fung-Wong, locally known as Uwan, is the second in a week to affect the Philippines after making landfall on Sunday evening. The weather system prompted warnings for heavy rainfall and life-threatening storm surges across much of the country, with sustained winds of 115mph (185km/h) and gusts of about 140mph recorded on Sunday by the national meteorological agency. Typhoon FUNG-WONG is heading to the Philippines as the equivalent of a major Atlantic hurricane.
What’s really stands out is its immense eye. At one point today its eye spanned ~70 miles - about the distance from Tampa to Orlando. Picture an eye like that spanning the state!… 1/

At its current trajectory the eyewall of Typhoon Uwan (int. name Fung-wong) and certainly the typhoon-force wind field looks likely the slam into the island of Catanduanes in like 6 hours time. Wind Signal No. 4 is in effect, interests there need to seek shelter ASAP.
