U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1 trillion.

Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits.

This is the military industrial complex on steroids.

It’s impossible to overstate what a big deal this is for this legendary Kentucky brand. The last time Jim Beam closed down like this was during Prohibition. Trump’s tariffs & fight with Canada are surely to blame.

Major Kentucky bourbon maker Jim Beam shuttering distillery for 2026
The move comes as Kentucky’s $9 billion bourbon industry is dealing with a glut of supply and slipping sales.

This is fantastic news, a triumph of medicine! And the overall cervical cancer rate in Oz is dropping, too, almost certainly due to HPV vaccinations.

And exactly the sort of progress RFK Jr. is trying to kill. Along with killing our citizens.
Congrats to Australia, this is really cool!

Have you ever heard someone go off, and their words are so perfectly chosen, so well said in that moment, that you’re in awe? You think, “There’s nothing to add here,” and you applaud in your head.

That’s exactly this. Pure perfection. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Wow‼️ The Kennedy Center already started slapping Donald Trump’s name on the building without congressional approval.

The narcissism is unreal with this man, and the willingness of so many to bend to his every whim is pathetic.

This is a great article by my pal and former American Meteorological Society president Marshall Shepherd. I was not aware of some of these, and shows just how this current regime is destroying the things that really do make our country great.
I've mostly been talking about the Trump regime's plan to dismantle NCAR, but you might be asking yourself, wtf is NCAR and why should I care? @drshepherd2013.bsky.social has got you covered here.

NSF is about to dismantle NCAR at Russell Vought's direction to protect the fossil fuel industry. It's hard to communicate just how much NCAR does, so let's take a look: I've never worked at NCAR, and I've worked with NCAR researchers once ever. What scientific discoveries has NCAR made possible? 👇

Hopefully one day soon. Very soon.
Investigators concluded Monday that South Korea’s ousted conservative President Yoon Suk Yeol plotted to impose martial law to eliminate his political rivals & monopolize power — Yoon is currently in jail while standing trial

After seeing Morgan Stanley's new $TSLA analyst awarding a $210bn ($60/share) valuation for Tesla's (non-existent) Optimus program, I've been gathering a list of Musk's "fails".

Interesting to find that, since his "homerun" with the Model Y, Musk's been on a non-stop downward spiral of innovation.

Obvious to anyone who can read. Faithfully execute the laws - passed by Congress!
it is actually kind of bananas how unitary executive theorists have taken a straightforward clause requiring the president to "faithfully execute the laws" and transformed it into a grant for the exercise of limitless unenumerated power.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

Never knew that Dwight could be so eloquent.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and moral, then it’s not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power. - Dwight Eisenhower

Overturning the 14th is how to negate civil rights for every group the admin targets.

It's overthrow is a tool of destruction advanced by a small number against the will of the majority.

At some point soon about a million people need to descend on the white house & supreme court & explain it.

We are underreacting to this‼️

We have no explanation on SCOTUS decisions affecting our lives.

The emergency docket, aka “shadow docket,” is the quiet backdoor of the Supreme Court. Decisions drop fast, with little explanation, and Trump is hammering it harder than anyone in modern history.

I wasn't thrilled when BIll agreed to this debate, but it did provide us with this absolute banger of an exchange showing the difference between science and firewalled faith in nonsense.
A few years ago, Bill Nye the science guy debated creationist Ken Ham about evolution. The last question was "what would change your mind?"

Bill Nye said "Evidence."

Ken Ham said "Nothing can possibly change my mind about this."

I think about that a lot.

is right to ring the alarm…

Congress has to make AI a priority. Legislators let social media go unregulated and we all see the fallout. It’s the Wild West. We cannot let the same thing happen with AI.

If Congress sleeps on this, we’re in trouble.

The Trump administration believes that the rich and powerful should be pardoned for their crimes, even after judges and juries determined their guilt.

But if you’re a non-white guy in a fishing boat, there’s no need for a trial or even an arrest. Murder from above, no questions asked.
When this criminal was jailed, the judge told David Gentile and America: ‘This is a warning to would-be fraudsters that seeking to get rich by taking advantage of investors gets you only a one-way ticket to jail.’ I guess not

Are we waiting to find out Donald Trump‘s definition of a “Third World country”? Because I doubt it matches the technical one.

Trying to break universities. Will we let them? Shooting ourselves in the head.
Again, as with all the other federal budget cuts that are incinerating 20-25% of the funding & the entire budget model of every R1 university in 🇺🇸, this is a five-alarm emergency that requires immediate, loud, collective condemnation by our university presidents. Total 🦗 as it’s all being gutted.

If a phone still works fine, it’s not “device hoarding” to keep using it. It’s common sense.

Wearing the uniform to protect Americans should never mean becoming a target.
