Hey, you!

Remember to do stuff just for the joy of doing it.

You don't need to transform everything in content for the social media (unless this makes you happy).

Enjoy that hobby yourself, no need to think about monetizing it.

The reward should be your inner joy/peace first.

Always.

It feels good to catch an age old system ordering bug by running a flaky test 10 times and then fixing it and seeing the test is no longer flaky. Switched to nextest tonight after seeing it has a stress test option (and is way faster than `cargo test`).

I have spent my entire adult life being lectured by Republican politicians and conservative legal movement types about how important it is to preserve the sacred constitutional right to self-defense of *specifically this person* and then secret police murdered him in the street
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara says that the victim was a 37-year-old white man and US citizen with no criminal record and that he was a legally permitted gun owner.

snide smug "America has always been like this" shit is so fuckin caustic. yeah sure you're the only person who has the right theoretical lens for the long arc of history. go ahead and feel fuckin superior about that and shirk responsibility for a better future. post away. have a good time. fuck you.

Every single thing you're seeing from Minneapolis is as impressive as it looks. It is that brutally cold out. That is a stonking huge number of people. Those utterly filled city blocks are that outrageously Midwesternly wide and broad. Getting everyone there did push Metro Transit to the limit.

Habeas petitions are a fairly extraordinary remedy — even attorneys in immigration practice don't just crank out piles of these every day — so MaryJo Webster's analysis puts in sharp relief that even if some fraction of these are meritless, a staggering number of people are being held without cause.

No! The criticism of the Dems isn't that they never win elections, it's that they don't use power to solve the problems that got us here. Elite impunity, concentration of wealth, the unitary executive. Winning is only step 1
New - Chuck Schumer to haters: “The answer to these critics is to win. If we win back the Senate, that will answer every question"

Peltola “was the last piece to the puzzle"

He says Dem path to Senate is Ohio, Alaska, Maine and NC. Dems are watching Texas/Iowa

In recent memory, The Penguin.

..also, the finale of Stranger Things was great, I dunno what people were expecting.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

It's not great that a student can turn in a bad essay but vaguely point to the Bible and religious beliefs as an excuse for not following the actual assignment and terrible writing. That's not what college is supposed to be.

The professor did nothing wrong but she was pulled off the course anyways.

Invasive mosquitoes with avian malaria threaten Hawaiʻi's native honeycreepers. Conservationists are using drones and helicopters to release lab-reared male mosquitoes carrying a Wolbachia bacterium strain that causes non-viable eggs when they mate with wild females to control mosquito populations.
Thousands of mosquitoes are being dropped by drone over islands in Hawaii. Here’s why | CNN
