Union contracts are just as much about setting (and ENFORCING) standards across the industry, as they are about protecting (often unaware) talent from having those standards ignored, bypassed, or obfuscated.

Remember when Nintendo said they had no interest in Gen AI? How many companies have publicly said they have no interest in using it for games only to then turn around and do it. It’s why our laws and contacts have to protect artists and not rely on them keeping their word
