btw you can generate vertex color procedurally in geonodes and read it in a ucupaint mask

this is also viable for gamedev if you keep mesh subdivisions reasonably low

Flow was made entirely with Blender and rendered in real time with EEVEE. We didn't use a renderfarm. The final render was done on my PC. There was no compositing, all the colors were tweaked and adjusted using shaders.

Well in case it saves anyone's half an hour, don't bother trying to put Memtest86 on a flash drive that is 1GB or smaller. It'll fail to finalize, it'll partition your drive into an unusable state and you'll spend the next 25 minutes trying to un-FUBAR your flash drive.
