Just a blurb I wrote on my fb fan page about Tekko and isshocon and my experience being a cosplay judge for them.
I have to say Tekko and Isshocon have set the bar in terms of how being a cosplay judge/guest should be treated. Both of these cons did not make you feel inferior/lessor towards the musical and/or voice acting guests. They didn't try to cram you into a hotel room with other people to save green rectangles, but asked if you wanted to if you personally knew any of the other invited guests. They understood the need that people deserved comfort and privacy and made sure there was a budget for that. I loved how Angelo, the convention head for Issho, was always seen and checking in on everyone, and I mean everyone. When I was a guest at Tekko, that con head was also super visible to everyone and checking in on everyone as well. It's refreshing seeing these con heads going up to each vendor and artist booth asking if they were doing well, do they need anything. Also when signing my contracts, when i asked if something could be clarified, I wasn't given a snarky, rude, talked down to response. They even fixed things that they thought was in the contract but wasn't and amended it before I signed. They wanted to make sure what i expected and what they expected of me was in writing and I felt comfortable with it. They treated me like a person and not someone less because I don't do voice acting or something music related. It's wild how a new starting con and a well established non-profit convention treat their cosplay judges/guests better than other events I've been a part of in my years of convention going.

At this point it seems like Rémi Salmon’s site is dead dead and won’t be coming back so here’s another of his works! This one is undoubtedly the Hero’s Forge when it was still known as The Pit.

Visual development by Rémi Salmon. It shows what can be best described as a flat roman Colosseum like structure in how it's a solid wall but full of doorways/windows for an audience to view what's happening all the way down on the floor. There's a big rough painted column just cutting off the camera on the right. The lighting is a golden orange being at the brightest the higher it goes. There's also a very large door with spikes on the top of it sealed shut and a lone figure dwarfed by the sheer scale of the place.

Today from 3Below comes a pair of visual development paintings of Stuarts Electronics by John Bell! There's even a Krel for scale.
Marked as Version 1, this painting shows the outside of Stuarts Electronics with Krel scale on the right. On the left is Max Barber Shop which unsurprisingly is a barber shop. Stuart's has some funky blue and yellow tiling under the large windows, a long red canopy, the classic lightning bolt alongside the vertical oval for Stuarts with Electronics on a much smaller sign underneath. There's even a socking big satellite on the roof and a large aerial. Marked as version 2, this painting shows inside Stuarts. There is a mess of old electronics crammed onto the shelves on either side, a ladder to upstairs where even more stuff is and a sprinkling of fairy lights draped every which way coming. While there's two overhead lights the bulk of the light is behind the counter where Stuart would be and another Krel to the right of it for scale. Stuart really likes bright red pricing labels.

reminder to drip your faucets for four hours every day when it goes below 32°F (one drip every 3 seconds from at least one faucet that's on each floor, preferably whichever ones are near pipes closer to outside)

I'm pretty sure most of us here can't afford to have our pipes burst 🫠
