He's made a deal that he thinks gives his country effective sovereignty around military bases. His plan is to plant military bases at promising mineral extraction sites and sell the mining rights to his friends.

I saw him do a (very) extended water tank solo for The Power and the Passion in about 1990. Bloody magical.
📢 To witness Rob Hirst in full flight behind his drum kit, a smile from ear to ear, arms and legs furiously pumping, was nothing short of exhilarating.

The real benefit to business of AI is clear: dissolving accountability. The business says they were let down by the AI. Not our fault. The AI provider blames the model, but guys, it's just this cute wacky guy. Who could get angry and/or litigious at a cute wacky guy?
'Our AI has messed up': Tour operator offers non-existent destinations
Weldborough in remote north-east Tasmania has lots of natural beauty. But it does not have hot springs — and it is causing headaches for locals.

You can stand with the people who are aggrieved by a system you're part of, who are grumpy at you because you're a generic part of that system, or you can side with your system because you don't like them being grumpy. Even though the system also oppresses you.

Hi Australia. Now we are having a national Day of Mourning today for the victims of the Bondi attack can we, the Aboriginal people, have our day of mourning on Jan 26 back please.

We have mourned on Jan 26 since the first day of Mourning on Jan 26 1938 and we would like it back.

Points for quoting A Fish Called Wanda though. There are plenty of Otto characteristics on show; maybe the whole thing is actually an homage?
Another proud day for America.

Every state and city that's converted its police uniform from 'blue suit and a funny hat' to 'urban siege warfare' bears substantial responsibility for where the world is at now.

This certainly casts Coles's new partnership with Palantir on surveillance of shopping habits in a disturbing and accurate light. Oh you bought pears 200km from home last July? Can and will be used against you.
ICE is using a Palantir tool that uses Medicaid and other government data to stalk people for arrest, 404 Media reports. This is exactly the kind of data privacy abuse that EFF has been warning about.

If the political will exists to crush (checks notes) scooters, how can there be even the most minute hesitation to crush guns in bulk?

Who'd have thought Vanilla Ice would turn out to be a prophet? The title of his seminal, semi-eponymous breakout hit is relevant in 2026 in a way that it never was before.

The ABC's gaslightling 'fact-check' article still uncritically supports ICE's claims about the extrajudicial murder in Minnesota, but hey, they changed the headline, so it's all good.
