Greedwalker and I wrote down what we wanted, then threw away everything that didn't fit.

I think the key was the focus on strategy (gear, skills, leveling) over tactical elements.

3. My favorite lineup is Knight / Brawler / Archer / Sage. I generally try all of them while testing to see how different combinations work together in action.

1. Mostly from scratch, DR2 only inherited my generic library and automap code.

2. The camera tilt goes all the way back to Demon Lord Reincarnation -- I wanted to recreate the uneasy feeling that came from the movement in FMV/Macromedia Director games.

1. Ultimate weapons: there are a few weapon upgrade paths that lead to the strongest weapons in the game.

2. If by dragon increases you mean NG+ monster level-ups, IIRC it's capped at 50.

Also, some inspiration came from the concept of gamebooks, and the overall design was focused in that direction.

For DR2, a lot of the inspiration came from playing Sorcerian, Unlimited Saga, and QUESTER.
