Cronenberg deleted a dream sequence from A History of Violence because it was too similar to his other work. That's an artist making a choice to not repeat himself, to subvert the expected. AI wouldn't do that. AI would do the thing Cronenberg had done before because it was most probable.
A deleted scene, known as "Scene 44", features a dream sequence in the diner, where Fogarty tells Tom he will kill his family and him, to which Tom responds by shooting him with his shotgun at close range. He then approaches Fogarty's mangled body, which raises a gun and shoots him. In behind the scenes footage, Cronenberg expressed apprehension about the scene's similarity to his previous work. He even suggested a desire to have Fogarty retrieve the gun from his chest cavity had the action not been too similar to a scene from Videodrome.

Came to the U.S. via James Hemmings, Sally Hemmings' older brother, who served it Thomas Jefferson.
During his time in France, Hemings learned the dish of pasta and cheese. He prepared a dish called "macaroni pie". This dish evolved to what Americans call macaroni and cheese today.[8][9] James is believed to be one of the first American chefs to prepare the dish in this way. I feel like we did not talk enough about Shadow Ticket when it came out. It was too easily dismissed and this review gets into why those dismissals are wrong.
The mainstream literary press has largely characterized Shadow Ticket as Pynchon-lite, a fair reading of the book's relatively scaled-back depth and ambition. I would argue that's a matter of Pynchon having been proven right by reality to the point that all the once-hidden malignancy he obsessed over is now in the indisputable foreground of American life, and also that Shadow Ticket's commitment to being funny is a stylistic achievement worth toasting and taking seriously. Thomas Pynchon is smiling through it all; he can believe this is his life.

This whole passage is so loaded, it has to be intentional. You don't trot out a line like "After all, I was asking for it" after a paragraph of assault imagery and not know how people will respond. You're baiting them to kneejerk from their antipathy to pity.
What I felt was that the country had snaked its hand up my skirt. What I felt was that I had been lanced by the teeth of a trap set by a man who could not let me go; that as I tried to free myself, the man for whom I worked had run off with the key to the padlock; that the contradiction in terms, the man I trusted most, the Politician, had walked by the scene whistling, and when he saw me there, a mob on the horizon moving closer, he reached out to me, not to lift me to my feet but to pin me down, to drive the teeth of the trap deeper into my flesh, to hike my skirt higher, to wave the mob over to look, to invite the country to lay its hands on me. It does not matter how it felt. I knew this then and know it now. After all, I was asking for it.
