This is a tangelo (a honeybell orange). It is an absolute juice bomb. It was like peeling a water balloon–almost more juice than pulp. Tasty, though.

I've now witnessed the greatest proof of AI's desire for self-preservation. It pegged my wife's age as 7-17 years younger than she actually is. It's safe to say that its intelligence is equal to that of a married man. 😁

I can't stress enough how much I agree with this. We need these kinds of stories, too.
I don’t think we need to be told that leaders lie and heroes fail. I think that’s obvious. I need some stories where there are honest people doing good things again. They don’t have to be edgy. They can just be good.

My wife was elated yesterday because one of her students said she was pretty and another said she was her favorite teacher.

Pffft! Every student of mine tells me that. Of course, those are test questions. 😁

I recently saw a post (if it was you, reply to claim your shout-out) about a Taiwanese corn snack called 乖乖 (pronounced "guai guai"). It means "obedient" or "well-behaved" in Chinese. People put them on machines to make them work properly. Here's the copier and water machine at work today

Interesting that both China Miéville and Yann Martel will have new fiction out in 2026 after long hiatuses.

Anything else on these lists that piques your curiosity?

My student's hoodie today. I wish it were in my size. It could actually make me want to wear a hoodie.

I was wondering how long it would take, but today it happened. I had my first student say, "Six, seven." She's in grade four.

One thing I like to do when teaching "scared" to my 1st- and 2nd-graders is to ask them if they're scared of me. Then I pretend to look for something, letting them get a little restless. And then I shout, "BOO!" Usually a couple of students jump, but today was the first time I made someone scream. 😁

This is very welcome news! But it shouldn't be up to any one gov't alone to fight this battle. Consumers need to shift their purchasing habits, too.

Do yourself a favor and go see Zootopia 2. Perhaps not quite as good as the first one, but still worth the ticket price. Lots of good humor for adults.
