Interesting work, it's becoming clear that @santiagozelenay.bsky.social's 2015 work on the COX-PGE axis' role in tumor immune evasion is robust (and also that we really need to focus on type I IFN in anti-tumor immunity).

In which mast cells are found to not only emit lots of mediators, but occasionally ingest other white blood cells like neutrophils and either consume them, or emit their contents too...😮

During an allergic response, some immune cells digest others
Mast cells lure and trap other immune cells during allergic reactions, using their compounds to increase inflammation in a process dubbed nexocytosis

Today we report that an engineered skin bacterium, swabbed gently on the head of a mouse, can unleash a potent antibody response against a pathogen. Could lead to topical vaccines that are applied in a cream. @djenetbousbaine.bsky.social led the charge... @natureportfolio.bsky.social 1/55

Establishing a conceptual framework for holistic cell states and state transitions
Technological advances have brought “big data” to the cellular level. Rafelski and Theriot share their vision of defining a cell's state in a holistic way that reflects all molecular, organizational, ...

I’m generally convinced that cellular memory is way way wayyyyyy underexplored
How do cells remember transient signals? New work reveals that a transient pulse of histone deacetylase inhibition leaves a lasting mark on 3D genome architecture in mESCs, linking chromatin dynamics to cellular memory and gene expression robustness.

Despite evidence to the contrary, funding bodies remain confident they can predict the success of a project.
