He'd been ill for a while, and I suppose we knew the bad news was coming. However, nothing can prepare you for losing one of the good guys. Joey most certainly gave the lie to the cliche, “Never meet your heroes”. I genuinely can't imagine anybody feeling let down after coming across him, unless they were on the opposing side in a football match, of course!

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

A special app alerted an off duty Metropolitan Police Officer who was registered as a volunteer responder to a medical incident in Wrexham. Wrexham Rural police gave the detail as part of a wider operational update for the last week, they said, "Whilst dealing with a medical emergency a few weeks ago in the Cefn Mawr area, an off-duty Metropolitan Police Officer turned up to the location bringing a defibrillator from nearby.
