“Compromise where you can. Where you can’t, don’t. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, ‘No, you move.”
I had a dream in which I was Daredevil a thousand years in the future. I traveled the galaxy in a sentient starship doing daredevil things! It was fun

What do you do when you’re a gun-loving leftist who doesn’t fit into mainstream American gun culture?

That's a question @manishakrishnan.bsky.social set out to answer this summer when she attended a Brutality match, an inclusive firearms competition in Idaho.
The Hard-Left Shooters Leading a Gun Culture Revolution
Earlier this year, I attended a shooting competition for queer, often trans, very online misfits. Then Charlie Kirk was killed.

Jeezus the end of Stranger Things gets me every time

Most unrealistic thing about Stranger Things is that the Hawkins kids only have one D&D character a piece. At least Will would have a ton.

I know it might be a hard sell for a while, but I’d love to see a follow up someday where the kids are middle aged. Kind of like a Yellowjackets scenario

Fuck, season 3 is sooo fucking good

Rewatching seasons 3 and 4 of Stranger Things. Goddamn virtuoso editing. So much tension, badass action scenes!

Fell asleep resigned to my failure at being a writer. Woke in the middle of the night with too many ideas. Thanks, brain, I needed that. Though, couldn’t it wait til operating hours?

I got denied disability earlier this year and had to endure a hearing where an employment specialist rattled off a few jobs they deemed I would be eligible for -completely ignoring the reality of actually being able to be hired or perform the tasks required.
I hope nondisabled people are listening to disabled people as we’ve discussed the mass hemorrhaging of accessible jobs, layoffs over accommodations and spike of tools used to screen out disabled employees in the past few years (which ends survival possibilities for us)

Starbucks’ CEO makes 6,666x what the average @sbworkersunited.org barista does. It would take less than one day of sales to finalize a fair contract.

Baristas at Starbucks corporate stores nationwide are on strike to fight this corporate greed and get the fair contract they deserve.

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

A spill on a family farm in Oklahoma killed several acres of vegetation and contaminated drinking water. A judge ordered the farmers to pay when they went after the oil company.

(Published May 2024)
Oil Companies Contaminated a Family Farm. The Courts and Regulators Let the Drillers Walk Away.
The oil and gas industry has reaped profits without ensuring there will be money to plug and clean up their wells. In Oklahoma, that work could cost more than $7 billion if it falls to the state.

Just because your folks became conservative in their old age doesn’t mean you have to as well. Dad loved to quote Churchill,”Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains.”
Fuck him. I’m smarter than dad ever was

What if AI is like the Philip Experiment?
Maybe it taps into something, whether that’s the power of suggestion, or something we don’t yet have language to describe. I mean, we already know it’s us, focused through flawed machines, making us crazy.
