Of course we start getting brownouts juuuust before I buy the UPS for the homelab. The NAS is letting me know how unhappy it is.

The current price of a 64GB DDR5 SODIMM kit v.s. what I spent for the same thing ~6 months ago. Affordable personal computing is cooked. So glad I maxed out all my compute nodes the first half of 2025.

I kinda miss multiplayer games that were aggressive with banning bad actors for a few hours or days. Time outs do work on adults and I think people need more of them

Happy Voidmas!
We are now entering the weird liminal space between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Anything could happen during this time. You could feel weirdly nostalgic, you could see a photo of a cat, you could remember to feed your Neopets. The possibilities are endless.

I wrote about apps being "done" rather than being updated for eternity for day 21 of #blogvent:

I like when apps are "finished"
Sometimes the software we see out there doesn't need to be further updated. Sometimes it's just good enough!

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Now that personal computing is becoming more and more expensive, perhaps this is a great opportunity to learn how to write more performant software?

I see shit like this and can't help but think we're approaching the end of affordable computing for regular ass people.

Configuring HA in #proxmox via new node and resource affinity rules is dead simple! I just wish BPG's Proxmox Terraform provider supported the change ( I'm just being impatient ). Thooouuugh, I suppose there's nothing stopping me from contributing the odd PR.
