one of my pet peeves is people who post about "the MSM stinks" etc but then don't want to be bothered to think about the fact that journalists also need to eat, have health insurance, and even wear shoes.

I can't get over how much these guys hate each other. Here, writer Jesse Kornbluth asks publicist Peggy Siegal questions about Epstein, saying he assumes the conversation will stay between them and that he cares about her. She forwards the convo to Epstein, calls Kornbluth a broke loser.
Text of an email from Jesse Kornbluth to Peggy Siegal on Saturday, April 30, 2011. It says: Peg -- Obviously, I'm sharing what follows on the assumption that everything here is just between us. The thesis of the Times piece is that the rich and their corporations have SO much power that we no longer live in a democracy. Can "we the people" make change? Not really. Who can? The rich and powerful. Huh? All they want is the status quo. Or more. But they could --- okay, its not likely, but they could --- turn on the bad actors at their social/economic level. For example: Wall Street CEOs, donors to the Tea Party, etc. That's the topic. Shaming. Shunning. One of the people I deal with --- there are several others. --- is Jeffrey Epstein. Reading the clips, I don't see that Jeffrey as been shunned. A group of 120 friends brought their children over for a buffet dinner This was just a few months after he finished his prison obligations in Florida. And here he is, entertaining --- with children present. The email continues: This Break Fast is one of a number of social events involving post-prison Jeffrey that attracted celebrated, powerful people. Of course I have zero idea who said, "NO WAY" and didn't cross his doorway. My questions are: 1) I You have known him for decades, were/are friends, etc. Why was your reaction to his crimes to continue being his friend --- and not in a covert way? 2) What would he have had to do for you to shun him --- to cut him out of your life? You're the ultimate professional; you may not want to respond. Especially because I'm NOT reaching out to anyone else who's named in the piece. I don't care about them. But it ain't me to blindside you. JK Below that email is the beginning of the conversation, in which Kornbluth tells Siegal she's mentioned in a story and she says "would love to talk to you." Peggy Siegal then forwards the email to Epstein with this message: Jesse Kornbluth could never make a dime. He is an angry loser who was married to Annette Tapert years ago.(She now is married to Joe Allen and they live near you in PB) Annette left him because there was no bread on the table and he is nasty. After all, the company paid its new chief executive, Brian Niccol, $95 million in compensation last year, about 6,666 times the compensation of average workers, as well as a $5 million signing bonus. Starbucks’s corporate board decided it would also cover Niccol’s housing expenses, COBRA reimbursements, security, a personal driver, use of the company aircraft to travel back and forth between Starbucks headquarters in Seattle and his “city of primary residence,” the cost of setting up a remote office, executive insurance, legal fees, and a physical exam, according to the company’s most recent proxy statement. In fact, the cost of settling the contract would amount to no more than a single day of sales, Starbucks Workers United said, or about four months’ worth of Niccol’s 2024 pay.

this is close to surpassing the story that drew the most hate mail ever, which was early in my career at the Herald News (rip) in New Jersey. I shadowed a state worker who kept invasive rodents out of fragile wetlands and people called/emailed to yell about how he was a muskrat murderer
