Every Toronto Based Fan I Follow: I feel much better about this game 7 because it’s not the Leafs!

Checking out some baseball tonight. Going to see the fantastically named Saskatoon Berries. Excellent website work by the Berries:

This is obviously dumb but I just want to highlight that humans do not, in fact, ‘need’ to argue. Arguments aren’t inherently bad or good and do not necessarily lead to progress.

What humans need to do is ‘problem-solve’, which is an entirely different mind view than debate or argumentation.

Really solid game by the Oilers except for basically one four minute stretch.

That Dallas goal ‘felt’ like a higher xG than given credit for here. That sudden change in possession I assume impacts the goalie’s ability to get set & may not be reflected here.

None the less, that’s a great first period for the Oilers by score and play.

40 more minutes though.

Not a he ‘greatest’ second period but it worked out!

How about let’s spend less time in the Oilers end. Skinner is doing great but I’m concerned that he no longer has a shutout because I’m not sure he’s contractually allowed to have between 0 and 4 goals against.

I think the Expected Goals here underestimates that scoring chance requiring the crazy Skinner save and the Stars had some good pre-shot movement before a couple of their chances in the 3rd that aren’t captured here…

But the Oilers played solid through 2 and held on in the 3rd.

The Oilers were in control on merit and then 3 back to back powerplay goals against.

Notable also that the Oilers scored 3 on about 3 expected goals for. Stars scored 5 non-empty netters on about 2.5 expected goals.

Emails I get while watching the Oilers in the 3rd.

Extremely low event game through 40 until one shift at the end by Vegas, which looks particularly dramatic on the chart because the y-axis is so short.

Maybe these teams are saving themselves for one (1) total period of hockey today.

Oilers were in control.

That first goal was a good scoring chance but the rebound it was from should’ve been better controlled.

The second goal was very savable.

And you need your goalie to stop 1 of the 2.
