Not here for anything in particular, you'll just have to go with vibes (although films [movies], motorsport, politics, and culture seem to come up a lot.)
I reckon this is a Cummings alt.

(Even I can't work out whether I'm joking or not)

I don't have an issue with the second point if it's keeping ultra-low emissions small cars on the road longer, which are the only cars that don't have a large tax to pay. Scrapping those artificially early is not helping carbon footprint.

The first point isn't unique to cars at all!

"close to" appears multiple times in the article. This is not an actual thing, even according to the article!

Just remember though, claiming benefits is bad, evil and causing the collapse of this country. Artificially undervaluing your house to avoid tax though is the height of patriotism.

As it happens I already do most of the tips on devaluing your house but just because I'm lazy and unaware of my surroundings. Not for tax avoidance purposes.

There's a Larry Niven book which has metric time and it's bloody infuriating to read. :-)

The point is "2,000mg" is a lot of mg and "2g of Vitamin C" or whatever it was doesn't convey the same thing. It's not simpler if it obscures...

2 million km indicates "not that far really if you're talking solar systems," and if you are, then the simpler unit is light-seconds or AU anyway.

Those... Both happen in spoken English? Now? In this world? No real reason that would change, when a convention like "daily dosage in mg" is set, then you just use mg in that mental context, all the time.

Once Mum wasn't busy with, y'know, me (and two more), she became an art and textiles teacher, so you see the vibe.

Haaaa. Only sci-fi thing I remember making was the Blue Peter Blake's 7 communicator bracelet!

I made one of these probably once a week and I still really have no idea why.

Yes, I for one am confident we can introduce geotags for each and every one of the individual externalities of a car.

There's a generation of game developers who will smuggle Illuminatus references in everywhere. I'm sure some of these examples are that ... @sturdyalex.bsky.social

I wish someone had written some sort of short story about how society looks if everyone's life goal is synthetic animals and society has broken to the point that empathy has to be managed via what is essentially religion in VR, someone should get on that.

It also assumes people give a fuck in 2025 USA, which is not an assumption I would bet my retail business on.

Wait until you find out what the *first* launch project named Orion was...
