Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

This week has conclusively proved that every moment of imposter syndrome that I ever felt as a practicing lawyer and/or a published writer was utter nonsense.

There's just no way that the House and Senate GOP would vote to release the full, unabridged, undoctored Epstein files. Given all the efforts Trump has taken to keep the files from being released, we have to assume DOJ/FBI are fucking around with them or have done so already bsky.app/profile/burg...
News: Thune says President Trump sounds ready to sign the Epstein resolution after it passed the House so Senate will likely take it up “fairly quickly.” Says Speaker Johnson wants changes but after a 427-1 House vote those changes might not happen

Let's all hope that one decent person at DOJ and one at the FBI has made a copy of the full Epstein files for safe keeping, because we all know that Bondi and Patel have ordered the destruction of any evidence implicating Trump.

The HOF is well aware of the changing electorate. When BBWAA changed its rules to allow non-beat writers to qualify for membership, the HOF reduced a player's years of eligibility on the ballot from 15 to 10 because they feared that the "younger, blogger types" would vote in Bonds and Clemens.
One thing I think people haven't quite realized yet about the HOF is how different the electorate could be, not just the players. Guessing a few dozen new voters come online this year, and some are aging out. That alone changes perspectives and voting totals considerably.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is trash. She's always been trash. She spoke at Nick Fuentes's conference and hasn't renounced him. She is a white nationalist.

I'm glad a lot of Democrats want to embrace her and absolve her, but what about the rest of us whom she continues to attack?

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Please understand this. A House vote to “release the Epstein files” will not result in their release. A lot of other steps—including Trump’s signature or a veto override—would need to occur. The House Dems goal is to every GOP Rep & Senator on the record voting against disclosure.
Here’s the underlying Epstein bill. For this to have legal force — as opposed to just messaging value:

1. House must pass it. (Discharge petition can only to force a vote.)

2. Senate must pass it.

3. Either Trump signs it or Congress overrides his veto.

www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...
Grijalva just signed the Epstein discharge petition.

It now has the 218 signatures necessary to start the clock that will, in a few weeks, trigger floor votes on the underlying bill to require release of the full Epstein files.

Get them ALL. Every single person who participated in, facilitated, or knew about Jeffrey Epstein's pedophile ring. I don't care if they are GOP, DEM, DSA, Green Party, Workers Party, etc. They are deeply sick people who need to be exposed and held to account.

I’d started to wonder whether the Epstein files were a bit of a macguffin, but no no they implicate the President of the United States in a pedophilia ring—and show the entire Republican Party as well as much of the federal government has been baldly covering it up. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Trump did the thing, everyone knows he did the thing, and he's got an entire political party and associated media apparatus trying to cover up his clear involvement in the thing. One of the sickest, most sordid chapters in an especially sick and sordid period of modern American history.

So on Epstein, the Democratic position should be "Trump should resign." If you are a Democratic elected, practice saying "We demand the president's resignation" in front of a mirror as many times as it takes until the dry-heaving that comes from having a phobia about actually doing politics passes.

Let us be incredibly, abundantly clear:

We are demanding that Chuck Schumer resign for his continued betrayal of the American people.

If he does not willingly step aside, we are calling on the Senators in the Dem caucus to remove him and Dick Durbin from Senate leadership.
