They want to ban the teaching of the unpleasant facts of American history because people might conclude injustices in the past that contribute to inequalities in the present should be rectified, instead of their belief, which is that some groups of people are inherently superior to others

Tip from @snowjob.bsky.social

If you have a whitehouse.gov link you want to access and it is down, try replacing "www.whitehouse.gov" with "bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov"

The national archives is still doing its job for now.

As the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wisely said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Today and every day, I pledge to never silence my voice in the fight for what is right, and I will continue to march in the path he forged toward justice.

Even though most of us will probably never lead the charge, we all have a vital role to play in this battle before us.

You won't be any better at fighting what's coming if you burn yourself out and spend all your time feeling bleak and hopeless, and the people telling you that it's all despair now probably don't have anyone's best interest at heart.

I can’t stop thinking about the Washington Post changing its “democracy dies in darkness” mission statement.

There is a reason TikTok is so good at figuring out what you want to see, and why it’s better than everything else: it’s a weapon, and the best weapon is one you don’t know exists, or worse, one you think you can’t live without

WELKER: Can you commit that California disaster relief won't have strings attached?

MIKE JOHNSON: No, I won't commit to that ... when state and local officials make foolish policy decisions that make the disaster exponentially worse, we need to factor that in.

So wild to watch this drumbeat of Meta/Zuckerberg doing away with programs they once proudly touted as technical solutions to help safeguard democracy.
